Daddy's Double Barrel Discipline

It seemed harsh, but Augustus knew that a leg full of lead would teach little Emily that it was wrong to go around mercilessly stretching the tongues of her pets.

it looks like someone went after this pattern pic with Photoshop and yet somehow managed to only enlarged the dogs' tongues. Quite advanced.
Antoher thought. Why are they dressed in their winter whites on what looks to be a blazing summer's day? Could they not afford a cheap winter backdrop? Or perhaps they could have borrowed the Apocolypse backdrop you featured a while back.

Check out the heroin chic look on the mother.

Does Emily getting a head start, or does he shoot her where she stands?

Mom and Dad look pretty comfy in their sweaters and wool pants. The foliage is lush and the dogs are panting, but it could be the first slightly cool day of autumn. So far it all seems plausible, except for Emily in her heavy winter coat with hat, mittens and scarf. My guess is that her parents dressed her that way to slow her down in case she tries to run away.
Actually, if you scrutinize their faces, it's hard to say what's going on. Mom looks worried, but Dad looks kind of smug. The dogs are merely curious, and Emily seems oblivious.

Emily is wearing all her clothes on the hike up the mountain where they are going to dump her with her old grampa. It's just like that story Heidi, except that this one ends in her parents murder-suicide.

Of course Emily gets a head start. Only sporting doncha know.

Actually, Emily's off screen. That's her little sister Susan there. Mom is trying to convince Daddy that one leg full of buckshot is enough to teach her a lesson, while Susan is slipping into catatonic shock, realizing that she's next when Daddy discovers what she did to the kittens.

Actually, I think they're in some sort of Hunt the Humans End Game. The arans are like orange vests to make them better targets. Look at Mom's frozen with fear expression. All they were given to defend themselves with were two long-tongued dogs, an ancient shotgun, and their own wily-ness.
Dad looks pretty smug, but Mom and Emily/Susan are terrified as they're watching little Billy being carried away, dangling from a pole, the first casualty.

Why isn't Dad's sweater finished? Look at the neckline, they never finished sewing the shoulder seams together. Or was he in the middle of some Hulk-esque transformation sequence when they took the picture?

Is it just me, or does it look like Dad is missing his left leg below the knee? Perhaps he was cleaning the shotgun drunk when an unfortunate incident occurred.

I think there's a typo--didn't they mean "Aryan look"?

I think Dad's sweater is finished - it just has a really wide neck.

The sweater is finished, the dad's shirt has "Flying Nun"-esque lapels. The mom is going to let go and the dogs are going to pull him down the hill until he's airborne. Move over Orville and Wilbur.

Okay, I see what you guys are saying. That brings up a whole new question though. Why did anyone bother to finish a sweater that ugly?

Actually, "Mom" bears a suspicious resemblance to "Naomi" -- see http://weirdbabe.typepad.com/threadbared/2005/06/bff.html -- but even with a bleach job, she's still getting stuck in the background.

I'm with ya kowgurl - when I first saw it I thought "The Aryan Look"

"No Chet...don't shoot her yet. She must finish the dishes first. Then you can have your fun..."

I'm pretty sure the mom is Gwyneth Paltrow.

Those are the clothes I would put my family in as well if we were going out for a day of shooting. We always dress in our sunday best for activities such as that.

They all look as if they're gazing into the distance at something...maybe a rhinocerous? That gun looks big enough to kill one.

How come that mittens, scarf, hat combo looks EXACTLY like the one that guy with the shotgun was wearing some posts back? Well at least we know he has a family...for now.
